The Blue Mussel Café is a authentic P.E.I. seafood restaurant in the seaside town of Rustico Harbour. With its picturesque setting and world-class menu, the owners looked to develop a brand image and website that would project a modern essence without losing the charm and character of their dining experience.
They enlisted the services of Graymatter to first redesign their logo. We developed a suite of logo assets that could be used across a variety of applications such as signage, digital and merchandise. The logo successfully bridges the gap between an old fisherman’s vessel and a contemporary seaside brand. In its first year with the new brand, the restaurant doubled its annual sales. They could not keep up with demand for the clothing and souvenirs they sold on site. The brand was an instant success.

The colouring and detailing on the site convey the warmth and familiarity of a country kitchen but the overall style still feels modern. It is a mobile-friendly site with full responsive functionality complete with a CMS for content management. After the success of their merchandise sales in store, they implemented an on-line store with e-commerce functionality to sell merchandise away from the restaurant as well.
