THE ART OF CREATING A SIMPLE, TIMELESS BRAND IDENTITY.

The Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) is the collective voice of Canada’s independent documentary creators.  DOC was founded in 1983 and today it has over 750 members across six chapters from coast to coast.  The organization supports, promotes and develops the art form of documentary creation working to create conditions that will ensure that Canadian documentaries - and their creators - thrive.

Graymatter was engaged by a third-party agency to develop concepts for a new brand identity that would reflect both the creative and professional nature of its members and help the organization gain credibility. The chosen concept is a distinctive but simple representation of the acronym. The linking of the letters echoes the alliance between the different chapters across the country and the idea that these chapters embody the collective voice of Canada’s independent documentary creators. This was then adapted to stationery for the organization, including business cards, letterhead and envelopes. This contemporary, timeless brand identity is set to serve the organization well for many years to come.
